# MARKETING
DIRECTOR

my role
managing compsa's visual design, branding, merchandise, photography, social media, promotion, sales, collaborations, and marketing team all at once proves to be quite the challenge.

within compsa, this role continues to teach me the in's and out's of management and leadership while constantly giving me to new design opportunities. outside of compsa, i have the opportunity to interact with the computing student body and understand their likes and demands. their interest in us translates to my understanding and actions as marketing director.

learning about my peers and the student body is something that i genuinely interests me. it is my duty to impress my faculty!
01
branding
my first task as compsa's 2023 - 24 marketing director was to change our visual identity standards. i changed our colours, font, and appearance to a cleaner, less busy style. i incorporated modern design trends and created a detailed visual identity standard document for my graphic designers and ux/ui designers to use.

this standard is consistently followed when creating graphics, printable material, and ui designs. at compsa, i make sure that all 9 portfolio's hold this consistency to a high standard, as it is important to maintain a recognizable and professional image. every graphic created is always run through me for detailed feedback.

creative direction
i continued preparing for this role... in england. while studying at bader college, i developed not only a plan for our branding, but also a risky change. i wanted to show queen's that computing is a fun and exciting community to be a part of!

so, after combining my interest in fashion and love for my program, i began brainstorming trendy summer designs that i thought the student body might like.

FAR AWAY THINKING
being away from campus and across the ocean, finding inspiration for the product was tricky. after many hours on pinterest, i wasn't quite finding what i was looking for.

i contacted another member of the council who was on campus and asked them to send me some pictures of inside and around the computing building, goodwin hall.

one of it's most recognizable features are its oddly arranged steps out front. these interesting stairs were something i knew i could transform into a product that brought us all together... fashionably!

SET IN STONE
AFTER MAN DIFFERENT OPINIONS AND TOSSING AROUND DIFFERENT IMAGES, TEXTS, COLOURS, AND ELEMENTS, I DECIDED ON TWO FINAL ITEMS; A SUMMER TEE AND A TOTE BAG. THE SHIRT AND BAG WERE BOTH SIMILAR IN STYLE AND WERE MEANT TO BE PURCHASED IN A PAIR.

I MADE SURE THE DESIGN CHOICES MADE REMAINED CONSISTENT AND complimented EACH OTHER WELL. BELOW ARE THE FINAL MOCKUPS CREATED BEFORE THEIR PRODUCTION.

on the market
AFTER ORDERING OVER 200 UNITS OF PRODUCT, IT WAS TIME TO SPREAD THE WORD AND GENERATE PROFIT. as our main point of communication with computing students was our social media.

being familiar with others my age, i understood how important the quality of their promotion was in order to gain further interest. what better way to do that than to be the creative director of compsa's first formal photoshoot ever?

to fit our fresh, summer theme, i directed our group to various calm areas around the beautiful queen's university campus. i believed it was the perfect academic aesthetic touch.
02 - 3
demand with supply
combined with the launch of our brand new merchandise website in collaboration with our development team, students were able to place online orders. giving students easy access to our merch sparked an immediate surge in sales, something that compsa has never achieved during the summer months.

although these sales quickly dropped after the weather grew colder, i guided my newly hired fall merchandise team towards developing promotional strategies, like in person sales. this led to more initiatives such as designing and ordering compsa's first banner stand.

at the end of the day, compsa's goal was not to generate revenue, but instead to bring together and promote the computing community. seeing many bags and shirts around campus always warms my heart - we are achieving our goal!
